A publisher called his book too conservative. He started his own.

In 2011, David Thomas Roberts sent the manuscript for Patriots of Treason to publisher after publisher. Most never answered. The small Midwest firm that finally took it later left the book off the table at its own university event, even though it was one of their bestsellers.

Dave kept his rights, ended the contract, and released the book himself. Then he opened the door to other conservative and libertarian authors who had been given the same reception.
