Partner In Publishing

As an organization, Defiance Press believes in partnering with authors to bring their stories to life.

Our Partner Publishing model is designed to empower authors by giving them more control over their work and offering them greater transparency throughout the publishing process.

Here are just a few reasons why our Partner Publishing model works so well:

  1. Collaborative Process: At Defiance Press, we view the author as a true partner in the publishing process. We work closely with our authors to ensure their vision is realized, and we welcome their input at every stage of the process. From the cover design to the marketing plan, our authors are involved every step of the way.
  2. Flexible Contracts: Our Partner Publishing model provides more flexibility than traditional publishing contracts. We understand that every author’s needs are unique, and we work with them to create a tailored publishing plan that meets their goals and fits their budget. This means that our authors retain more control over their work and have greater flexibility regarding things like pricing and distribution.
  3. Transparent Royalties: We believe in being transparent about royalties and strive to help authors retain high ongoing royalty percentages. Our authors receive detailed reports outlining their sales and royalties on a regular basis, so they always know exactly how their book is performing.
  4. Marketing Support: We know that marketing can be a daunting task for many authors, so we’ve simplified it into a model that can be followed by anyone. From social media campaigns to book signings, we work with our authors to create a customized marketing plan that works for them.

What are the benefits of partner publishing for authors?

  1. Greater control: Unlike traditional publishing, where publishers make all the decisions about the book, in partner publishing, authors have more control over the editorial, design, and marketing aspects of their books.
  2. Faster time to market: Partner publishing can offer a faster route to market than traditional publishing because the process is more streamlined and doesn’t involve as many gatekeepers.
  3. Access to professional services: Our model gives you access to a range of professional services, including editing, design, and marketing support, which plays a huge role in the quality of the final product.
  4. Better royalties: With partner publishing, authors can earn higher royalties than they would with traditional publishing, which typically offers lower royalty rates.
  5. Flexible pricing: We have different packages available based on whether you’re a new author, what your financial situation is like, and what your overall goals are for your novel.
  6. Greater transparency: We’re fully transparent about the publishing process, including costs, timelines, and distribution channels, which enables you to make informed decisions about your publishing journey.

How long does the partner publishing process typically take?

The partner publishing process varies in length depending on a variety of factors, such as the publisher’s specific guidelines, the complexity of the manuscript, and the author’s responsiveness.

Most of the time, if everything goes according to plan, the partner publishing process takes somewhere between 4-6 months. The initial submission and review process is done within a few weeks as we evaluate your manuscript for its suitability to it’s target audience, the overall quality of writing, and its potential for success & marketability.

If you decide to move forward after our discovery meeting, then we jump right into the editing and revision process, which takes several months, as we work with you to refine the manuscript and prepare it for publication.

After the editing process is complete, the production and printing process starts and we begin preparing for the launch of your novel.
