Brian Martin was born on July 4th and raised in the Midwest before relocating to Texas at fifteen, where his distinctly American sensibility took root. An openly gay writer who came out during the era of the Red Hot and Blue AIDS benefit album, Martin brings both sharp wit and lived experience to his craft.
A veteran of multiple writers’ workshops, Martin has developed what he calls “New Gothic”—a unique horror genre where speculative fiction intersects with the macabre. His writing draws from a lifetime of keen observation and unconventional experiences, including encounters that some might classify as otherworldly.
Martin approaches his identity as an active force rather than a static label, preferring to think of himself as a verb in constant motion. His work reflects the complexity of contemporary American life through the lens of horror, offering readers both chills and insight into the human condition.
